Places to go with children
/l/1100/1122_s.jpg Below we list locations and activities we have tried with our families and return to again and again.

Borisova Gradina - Sofia’s largest natural park. A great place for riding bike, roller-blading or riding scooters. Within the park is Kokolandia, an obstacle course laid out between the branches of large leafy trees. Good for kids over 10, or younger if they have long arms and legs! Safe bungee-jumping for toddlers, and they’ve recently added mini-golf. Limited concession stand. You may want to think about packing a little picnic lunch or snack. No toilet facilities.
/l/700/719_s.jpg South Park (Yuzhen Park) - Contains several playgrounds, merry-go-rounds, and bouncy castles, etc. Another low-traffic park good for riding bikes.

Sofia Zoopark - On Simeonovsko Shosse, turn left at Sveti Lazarov maternity hospital. Admission is very low, (60 ct. for adults) so take some coins with you. Large park area is safe but could use some loving care. The animals include tigers, lions, bears and elephants, among many others. It’s never crowded and makes a good place to practice tricycle riding. Open year-round.
/l/400/487_s.jpg Patilantsi - In Mladost II, very near the school, just around the corner from McDonald’s. Caters to the under-10 crowd, with supervised play jungles and a variety of rides and games, indoors and out. A popular place for birthday parties and after-school playdates. Expect to spend around 10 leva per child for an hour or two of rides and activities. Tokens are purchased beforehand at the little store, and extra tokens can be brought back for use next time.

Sofia Land - On Vaptzarov Blvd. This is a fun-park for children of all ages and you’ll find restaurants, bars and shops as well as 2 cinemas and a bowling alley. Admission to the central area is free. The price for the amusement park is about 1-2 leva per ride. It’s open year-round, rain or shine.
